Participation of Sareco in the Bat'im Club Meetings "Habitat, mobility and parking"

October 21, 2018

The Bat'im Club meetings "Housing, mobility and parking " were held on November 14, 2018 in Paris.

Éric Gantelet spoke on the topic of "Design and programming of parking at the scale of a district - the case of districts undergoing urban renewal".

He developed Sareco's approach to parking management in urban renewal projects, which has been tested on numerous occasions in his studies, emphasizing the need for:

  • to act on parking - a powerful lever to guide mobility practices
  • to examine this issue not at the building level but at the neighborhood level by making a precise diagnosis of the existing situation
  • to conduct "inter-landlord" discussions
  • to promote mixed-use parking lots when possible (more often than you might think…)
  • to act on the often underutilized bicycle

Finally, Éric Gantelet described the economics of parking for social housing. This is structurally unprofitable in apartment buildings: in this context, taking action to reduce the number of cars owned by residents is financially efficient, including for landlords (for example, the implementation of car- sharing programs ).
