car sharing

As part of an objective to reduce individual car use, car sharing is proving to be a relevant solution. Indeed, people use a shared car less spontaneously than their own car.

The same car is used by several drivers, within the family unit, among close friends and family, or even for profit with outsiders. Associations and commercial companies have made this their raison d'être.

As a result, parking needs decrease accordingly: one car to park instead of several. However, parking spaces must be adapted to a new constraint: parking accessible to strangers and even the development of car-sharing stations. This phenomenon affects both roads and parking lots.

Sareco has followed the emergence of carsharing in France by evaluating pilot programs since the 1990s. Its in-depth knowledge of the subject allows it to recommend this service judiciously, specify the conditions for its implementation, and estimate its impact on parking quantities and management methods.

Carpooling

This practice consists of grouping together to drive in a single personal car.

Shared parking

The owner of a parking space can rent it out if he does not use it at all, but he can also share it just when he is away.
