Setting up shared parking operations

Pour éviter les effets pervers du "tout privatif" et mieux répondre aux objectifs de développement durable, Sareco préconise depuis plusieurs années la programmation de parcs mutualisés de secteur à l’occasion de grands projets urbains.

En faisant jouer la complémentarité temporelle de la demande entre les différents équipements d’un quartier, la mutualisation permet de diminuer jusqu’à 1/3 le nombre de places de parking construites.

When we assist an operator in setting up a shared parking operation, we conduct a forecasting analysis of parking needs with the following objectives:
  • limit the cost of real estate transactions in relation to the service provided;
  • limit the urban space consumed by parking;
  • to maintain control of a strategic lever to conduct its travel policy.
Sareco has compiled an unparalleled database on parking requirements for common facilities. By cross-referencing this information with the development plan, a computer programming tool can estimate the number of private and shared parking spaces required. The network of shared parking facilities for each sector can then be defined.

Then, using a specific documentary base, Sareco can propose methods of financing and managing these shared parks.

Content of the missions

Sareco can support project owners from the project's inception to the operational phase:
  • estimation of expected demand based on the operation's program and the urban fabric in which it is situated;
  • evaluation of the technical and economic advantages according to the level of pooling and the planned construction method;
  • design of the principle of serving the buildings: location of the parking lot, shape, structure, access…;
  • preparation of a rationale to explain the project to the local community concerned;
  • assistance in setting up the operation: benchmark showing the range of possibilities, assistance in discussions between partners, setup scenarios…;
  • assistance in the transfer of land/ Building Permits and Tenders for the operation of the works.
